Daniel Thénadey, pilot of the musical programmation of the Arcs of Quéven (close to Lorient), had the great idea to invite two original and brilliant formations of jazz to occur next Saturday in his animationscenter. The traditions and Miles Jacques Pellen and his accomplices of "Celtic Procession" will draw the first fireworks, before yielding to the scene to the quintet from a larger contemporary trumpet players, Briochin Éric Le Lann. This evening will testify to the creative vitality of the musicians from Armoric, those on our West Coast. |
It's not more need to introduce the guitarist from Brest Jacques Pellen, nor even his assistants of the "Celtic Procession" : Gildas Boclé (double bass), the Hungarian Peter Gritz (drums), and the brothers Molard, Jacky with the violin and Patrick with the bagpipes. Joined together, they create a jazz which is played of the Celtic traditions without denaturing them, a fusion which would not strip in production "ECM". Even he is not fond of delicacies of these comparisons, it's of the set of Davis Miles and Chet Baker that generally one brings closer that from Éric Le Lann. Luminosity of phrased, capacity of invention ever taken at fault, glare of sonority: the man, that general public had |
discovered thanks to film of Bertrand Tavernier "Around Midnight", has the specific qualities with the jazzmen of exception. The members of his quintet are Lionel Belmondo (saxophone), Jean-Michel Pilc (keyboards), Richard Bona (bass), and Jean-Paul Ceccarelli (drums).
